I need to make the same decision. I think for me it will depend on if anything is planned for Thursday besides registration and dances. If it is a full day, or even a half day, I will come up on Wednesday. If just reg and dances, then I can come up on Thursday.

Same here, I don't need to know what is planned for Thursday, just around when planned events will be starting. I missed opening ceremonies at a con one year because I thought it started at 4 PM and it actually began at 10 AM. I was still travelling that morning so missed the start of the con.

Saving money...and I may be solo that night w my roommate(s) not till Fri.
Off days for me Fri & Sat so I'd request Thu and Sun off. Now con expanded to Thu which is Halloween itself.
Sometimes the day before a con I'll "drive most of the way" and stay at a cheaper motel. For FD I went to a hotel 13 mi from downtown Philly, thus an easy commute the next morning (the Fri) and in that case I was solo on the Thu anyway

That's an issue mostly for folks using debit cards. Then don't pay for their room with that debit card. The hold locks up that portion of your bank account so you can't use it. It gets released when the hotel places the debit at checkout or thirty days after checkin. This trips up mostly younger folks who use debit cards for everything.

My debit card was compromised, and it had three charges placed on it the same day from three different countries. This triggered the banks internal fraud alert and they put holds on the charges. But I had to go to the bank, fill out three affidavits, and those dollars were locked up in my bank account, adding up to most of my money, for almost a month before the bank released the hold. That was a ramen week for me.

Credit card as long as you report it to the bank within a couple of days of you finding out, the maximum you are on the hook for is fifty bucks. That's under us federal law. Other countries may vary.

I would argue that's only to a point when it comes to debit and overdrafting

Like if someone mismanages their money grossly and keeps trying to game the system and use debit like credit, that's one thing.

But more often than not in my own and others' experiences, how banks handle overdrafts is absolutely predatory and makes no attempt at sympathy for people down on their luck.

Made a handful of small few-dollar purchases? Oh wait a bill payment takes precedent. Aaaand now you've racked up about $80 in overdraft fees because you had the audacity to buy a pack of gum and a sandwich on different transactions while being about a dollar short. Sucks to suck, pay up.

It was iconic but Face ID is way more secure imo. Not a big fan of the Touch ID placement in the power button though. I tried it on a mini 6 and the case kept getting in the way. Just felt awkward compared to the simplicity and effortlessness of Face ID.

eventually when I need to replace my 2nd-gen iPhone SE (which hopefully won't be until maybe 2026 or even 2027), I'll move up to the base-line non-SE iPhone, upgrade to a larger storage size and somewhat better camera

I can sample more dairy this time if they don't put your panel b4 any singing or talent show type things ๐Ÿ˜‰ I'd be in. The reason being is dairy causes flem before singing so when I was avoiding the dairy and caffeine tightens throats a bit it was nothing against u It's just I had talent show right after ur panel .. at GSFTW and it seems every con has stuck ur panel b4 talent shows ๐Ÿ˜…

while 8 GB of RAM would be fine for someone doing regular computer work on a MacBook Air (such as web browsing, email, listening to music and watching some videos, instant messaging and office productivity), anyone who really likes to multitask or do digital media work would definitely be better off with 16 GB of RAM or greater

I think so! It's awesome to have a con that's a mix of everything. I used to go to I-CON on Long Island when I was a teenager and it was neat seeing anime, gaming, scifi, etc all in one place. That's where I saw my first fursuits and stuff too. It's just neat to have a mix of all fandoms in one place. c:

I could get to/from ANE using the commuter rail and subway, but there is the issue of dealing with a large suitcase and a rolling fursuit tub on the trains. Not ideal. Still, I may try it next year since it is so rare that I need to go to my car while at the con when I drive in to the hotel.

I manage to take the subway and amtrak over but i have a double large backpack and my big rolling suitcase. The backpack gets in the way more than the suitcase does lol

An attendance boost for what is now the second biggest furry convention ever (after Midwest FurFest '23, 15,547), maybe a 50 per cent increase? Congrats to all who attended (like Joe Bear)--I was not there but Joe and I will be attending the con I have attended since 1997 (500, in Albany; 13k last yr)--Anthrocon in Pittsburgh!

This was why I started staying overnight a couple nights at that con, just in case of rough winter weather.
